Portofino Port - Impressionist Oil Painting on Canvas

When looking for impressionist oil paintings by Portofino, one inevitably encounters the artist Christian Seebauer, who has become known to the general public more due to his environmental and sociocritical oil paintings. His landscape painting is, however, in no way inferior and is now world famous. One of his works about the Taj Mahal in Inden is the main motive of the Bollywood "Ho Gaya Hai Mera Dil Patanga". The oil painting "Port of Portofino" is one of the classics, as far as the cliché of Italian Impressionist motifs is concerned and we copy accordingly. As is often the case in his works, the artist, in his homage to Portofino, captures the few minutes shortly after sunset in his full drama. At the same time, the impressionist artist takes a deep breath in the trick box of painting in order to enhance the mood of the work: on the right side, the Portofinos house front is just lit up by the last evening light. Nevertheless, the artist cleverly takes over the bright and warm yellows in the background in the evening sky, even though they are not supposed to be there. The viewer is presented with an incredibly lively, memorable and engaging setting, within which the port of Portofino is staged like a timeless idyll. None of the big yachts and luxury ships enter the factory. It remains timeless because they lack the oil painting, while the old small fishing boats and sailboats are stylized to the Portofinos brand. Can one leave out in art what one does not want to see and emphasize what one wants to see? Seebauer seems to take no account of such questions and to paint Italy with so much heart that the oil painting has long since conquered the Internet charts. It is one of the oil paintings that seem to fulfill all the clichés of a perfect world and all the yearnings one would want to dream of from the lonely harbor on the Mediterranean. Even though this is no longer unconditionally true on Portofino today. Italian architecture of old stone houses at the harbor. The peace of a few people walking along the quay. The turquoise-blue waters, whose surface seems at the same time to be agitated, yet radiates this deep peace. Seebauer unites in this work as in many others the many contradictions of a beautiful and vulnerable scenery. The work shows light and shadow. But it also lives from the use of complementary colors. It obstructs the view through the hills Portofinos and yet offers the viewer's view an incredible width and openness. As an oil painting on canvas, the "port of Portofino" captivates with its tremendous luminosity and variety of colors in the spirit of old masters of impressionism.
